DK – Baby beanie hats
Since teenagers and adults had the Panda hats last winter I designed the Teddy hat for babies, it’s just a basic beanie hat with ears.
Once you have knitted the hat of your choice using a pattern for the decreasing all you need to do is knit 4 ears. Looking at the hat you have knitted you can decide how big you want the ears to come out to how many stitches you need to cast on.
Stocking stitch how many rows you need for them to be as long as you require before the the shaping, then decide how you want the top shaped to how quickly you decrease. I decreased one stitch at both ends of the needles on every row till I was left with three stitches, then knitted 3 together.
Since they are not very big you could knit a few different designs and decide on the design you like the best to knit the others. I use a lighter colour on the inside of the ears and the main colour on the backs of the ears.
Just a simple set of ears changes a basic pattern, can you think of any easy ideas to add to hats?
