Aran – Dog Paw Scarf
I had noticed it was fashionable to have pockets at the ends of children’s scarves. So when the mum of one of the boys I knitted a dog hat for asked if I could make him a scarf as well I thought it would be fun to make a scarf with pockets at the end with dog paw motifs.
I work with the toddlers granddad and he had made the pom pom’s for the original hat, for the dogs ears.
I knitted my test square and calculated how many stitches and rows would be needed for the pocket. I gave the toddlers granddad the squared paper so he could design the dogs paw print. I had marked out the squares he needed to keep within.
I knitted the scarf in K1, P1 rib.
I used the chart to knit the dog paw motifs – I didn’t keep the chart after I had used it.
As you can see granddad got busy making pom pom’s again!!!
It keeps him out of telling us all bad jokes at dinnertime!
I have made another scarf. This one was for an other child. I made pockets with a button for little treasures as well as pockets for her hands. AND added a hood, since having a scarf with pockets and hood is getting more fashionable.
If I can borrow it back at some point I will add a photograph of it here.
