2nd Large Coloured Lincoln Longwool Sheep Fleece Rug / Throw

I made this Coloured Lincoln Longwood Fleece into a lovely rug with long curly locks.   Lincoln longwool fleece have very long locks and are a very heavy fleece. It has cream and grey locks in comparison to a standard Lincoln long wool fleece which has only cream locks.  This fleece has a slight green sheep marker colour in the middle, it has not washed out during the making or the washing afterwards, I like my fleece to reflect what it would look like on the sheep.  This rug is so big and soft and light, I would use it as a throw over the back of my sofa, so when its a cool night I can snuggle under it.

Coloured Lincoln Longwood Sheep

Coloured Lincoln Longwool sheep have very long locks, their staple length is very long and their fleece very heavy. It is not known to be a very soft fleece – but they are very strong. I made this Coloured Lincoln Longwool fleece into a lovely rug.  They are classes as a are breed as there are only around 700 ewes.  Learn more about Coloured Lincoln Longwool sheep from the Lincoln Longwood Association.

Fleece

The sheep must be shorn every summer to keep the sheep cool and help prevent blow fly strike.  I buy quality fleece from pet sheep owners and use a process called wet felting to felt a backing. As a result it is similar to a sheepskin rug, but far better for the sheep!

Because the sheep live outside all year round, the item could contain tiny pieces of grass, it is impossible to get every tiny piece out.  It might initially shed a small amount of fleece.

Returns

If you are unhappy with your items and would like a refund please contact me within 5 days of receiving your item. Items must be returned unused and at the buyer’s expense.

After care

This item is made from a natural fibre, as such it can be washed.  If it has just been spilt on, use a damp cloth to wipe the area. If it has been soiled more, you can wash it by hand or on a cool washing machine cycle, if you use too hot or too cold a cycle your item will shrink.
