Multi Variety Fleece Wool Stool – small square
I have made a fleece foot stool / seat from an upcycled stool base and 2 different fleece. The stools wooden seat has been covered with Texel sheep felt and stuffed with Texel fleece. The cream Alpaca fleece is dreamy soft and the Texel stuffing gives it a very soft base. I have added a lovely white piece of Wensleydale locks to add texture to the stool. You can use the stool with the Wensleydale locks on top, or remove them while you are using the stool.
Telex Sheep are very big, their fleece is either cream or tones of grey which are called Blue Texel. Learn more about Texel sheep from the Texel Sheep Society.
I only purchase my fleece from trusted owners. I purchase my Wensleydale fleece from Mark Jones’ Cefn Llan Fibre Flock.
Wensleydale sheep have gorgeous curly locks with a lustre shine to them. The locks can vary in length and tightness of curl. Learn more about Wensleydale Sheep from the Wensleydale Sheep Society.
A sheep’s fleece needs shearing every summer to keep the sheep cool and help prevent blow fly strike. I buy quality fleece from pet sheep owners, and use a process called wet felting, to felt a backing which holds the fleece together like a sheepskin rug. Because the sheep live outside all year round, the item could contain tiny pieces of grass, it is impossible to get every tiny piece out. It might initially shed a small amount of fleece.

The fleece item is made from a natural fibre, as such it can be washed. If it has just been spilt on, use a damp cloth to wipe the area. If it has been soiled more, you can wash it by hand or on a cool washing machine cycle, if you use too hot a cycle your item will shrink.
